Vitório has lunch at Jolanda's house

One afternoon, Jovana had been convinced by her daughter Jolanda to invite Vittorio to lunch at her house. Jolanda studies with him and harbors an unrequited love for him. Jovana said:

"That boy seems nice, he only has this flaw of always going barefoot."

"But he likes it, Mom..."

Shortly after, he arrived with his adoptive mother, Maria. At one point, Maria said:

"I'm sorry, Mrs. Jovana, I couldn't convince Vittorio to put on his shoes. I don't know what's wrong with him that he can't stand wearing shoes for even a few minutes. And we live very close by."

Jovana said:

"Don't worry, make yourselves at home. I made a delicious lunch, I hope you enjoy it."

Jolanda said:

"Modesty aside, my mother makes the best lunch in Vitalba and all of Tuscany; not even Florence or Siena have such a delicious lunch."

"Wow, I really want to try it," said Vitório.

When they were about to have lunch, Maria said:

"Shall we pray the Lord's Prayer first?"

Everyone agreed, and they prayed the Lord's Prayer. Jovana then said to Vitório:

"My daughter Jolanda likes you very much, she always speaks well of you."

"Thank you very much."

Maria said:

"If you weren't so young, you could marry her."

"Oh, Mom, I'm still young..."

Jolanda laughed. But in truth, Vitório likes Alessandra, but his feelings aren't reciprocated. Even so, he harbors a special affection for Jolanda, and dreams of being able to give her the love she deserves, should Alessandra reject him irreversibly. The conversation was very fruitful. After that day, even Maria suggested that Vitório look at Jolanda with affection:

"I really liked that girl, she's beautiful, respectful, intelligent, studious, hardworking..."

"Yes, definitely."

"Even so, you like that Alessandra girl who doesn't even value you... I know everything. Wake up, boy. Otherwise, even Jolanda won't want you anymore, and then you'll have neither of you."

Vitório became thoughtful.
