Another new year arrives, and Warlla, the chic beggar, spends this holiday alone. She, who was once rich and experienced abundance, now lives in contempt and solitude. Even though she draws attention for her unusual way of dressing, which doesn't match the life she leads—she dresses like a chic lady, even wearing accessories—she is simply ignored by many.
Starting with her family. Warlla isn't ignored by her family out of malice, but because of everything she caused when she lived among them. Warlla always enjoyed provoking feuds, intrigues, and gossip, and took pleasure in seeing "the circus catch fire." Her cousins, the twin sisters Taline and Teane, even hated each other and didn't speak to each other for a year because of a false intrigue orchestrated by Warlla.
Furthermore, Warlla also caused problems with her other cousin, Esdras, so much so that even Hadassa, Esdras's young daughter, is very afraid of Warlla. None of them invite Warlla to Christmas dinner, and Teane rarely brings her food anymore.
Warlla's parents want to keep their distance from their daughter and don't even live in Lagoa da Italianinha anymore, having moved to Caruaru.
Other former friends from the wealthy class, such as Danúzia and Wéllia, now despise Warlla because of her current situation. Most of her "friends" from high society simply disappeared when they learned that Warlla had become homeless.
She is not even welcome among other homeless people. This is because she is rejected for dressing like a lady, which displeases other homeless people, such as Rita de Cássia, Andreza, Guilherme, Fábia, Gílson, and Renata, who think she is a "snobbish" person who doesn't recognize herself in a homeless situation. Her company is avoided even by homeless people who are involved in shady dealings, such as Priscila and Eric. This is the fourth New Year's Eve that Warlla will spend alone, on some street, lying on some sidewalk, drinking and smoking - vices that made her lose everything - lonely, while in their homes many who used to hang out with her will celebrate the New Year with relatives and friends, while not even the beggars want to be near her.
