One of the Frenchwoman Jacilene's favorite passions was water. It wasn't uncommon to see her swimming in a lake or waterfall.
When she arrived in Brazil in 1782, Jacilene was destined for Vila Rica. But she disembarked in Rio de Janeiro and insisted on spending a day in the colony's capital to enjoy the sea.
Jacilene entered the sea and swam, contemplating the beauties of Rio in the 18th century.
When she lived in Vila Rica, Jacilene frequently went to a nearby lake. And she even visited many waterfalls. In her old age, living in Pernambuco, she even visited Recife and repeated the same act she did in Rio when she arrived.
