On New Year's Day, Cássia was celebrating another birthday, and her two sisters, Quitéria and Lúcia, decided to take her to the beach. Quitéria didn't open her snack bar that day, and Lúcia accompanied her sisters.
Cássia wanted to spend her birthday having fun at the beach, and they went to Praia dos Carneiros, on the southern coast of Pernambuco. Quitéria and Lúcia went in wearing their swimsuits, but Cássia went in fully clothed, as she always liked. Cássia even wanted to go in wearing sneakers, but Lúcia said:
- Girl, take off your sneakers, at least.
- Okay, sister...
Cássia took off her sneakers, but left her socks on and immediately went into the water.
The three sisters had fun at the beach, and Cássia even said:
- Let's have a swimming bet to see who gets to the sand first?
The two sisters accepted the bet because, since Cássia was wearing a blouse and jeans, they thought she would lose. But they were very surprised when they saw Cássia winning. Lúcia said:
- But how is that possible? We're in our swimsuits and you're fully dressed, with weight on top of you, how did you manage that?
- Practice, that's all.
Quitéria said:
- That's right, she knows the bottom of the sea, the bottom of the mud, the bottom of the river, the bottom of the pool, the bottom of the fountain, she's completely surrounded by water and mud.
- True, I'm like that - said Cássia.
They sang "Happy Birthday" to Cássia and splashed water on her, at her own request.
After getting out of the water, they still had fun in the sand. Cássia asked to be covered in sand, and the two sisters did so. Then, to wash the sand off her clothes, Cássia went back into the water.
It was almost nightfall when they left the water and went to rest at their hotel. They returned to Lagoa da Italianinha the following morning.
