One afternoon, in downtown Berlin, Waldo saw Margarete and decided to confront her about the aggressive message she had sent him. Waldo said:
"Margarete, please explain. I know you don't love me, that's fine. But did you have to be so aggressive in that message?"
"Maybe it was the only way to make you stop bothering me. Get one thing straight: I don't want anything to do with you!"
"Okay. I just wanted to know if you wrote it yourself or if someone wrote it for you."
"Not at all, I wrote it myself, and I repeat, if you don't stop this, I'll take unpleasant measures."
"And what unpleasant measures, may I ask?"
"Well, just wait and see, keep looking for me and you'll find out."
Margarete left, and Waldo, irritated, went on his way. Later, Karola found out what had happened and sent an aggressive message to Margarete:
"You're not obligated to stay with him, but at least be polite, you have no manners at all, you're low! All your studies are useless if you're so rude!"
Margarete, also in an aggressive tone, replied, saying:
"If you're hurt by him, huh, you little bar singer? There you go, now the defender of the weak and oppressed has appeared. Go ahead, if you don't like it, rent a room in Berlin and go live with him! I don't want to know about you or him, I want you both to stay away from me!"
Waldo found out about Karola's attitude and went to talk to her. Karola said:
"I'm sorry, I couldn't stand it. Égon told me everything, I was shocked by her aggression."
"Leave her alone, I spoke to her today and she confirmed that she sent that message."
Karola said:
"So now you're convinced she's not for you? I'm not humiliating myself, but look at me, how much I truly love you, love being by your side. And you keep preferring her..."
"Calm down, Karola. Don't worry, Margarete is out of the picture! I've decided that."
"Really?"
"Yes. She doesn't exist for me anymore."
Waldo and Karola hugged.
