When she arrived in Lagoa da Italianinha, Leila, the young woman from the backlands who sells popsicles, known as "Barefoot Barbie," after spending a few nights sleeping on the streets, went to live in Alto do Cruzeiro, a poor community located on the city's hill, where there is a cross at the top (hence the name Alto do Cruzeiro).
There, the dangerous bandit Dani Cruel dominates, instilling fear in the people. But Leila doesn't bend to her. One day, Leila even defied the curfew - all residents have to be home by 10 pm. Dani Cruel sent her henchmen to invade Leila's house.
On another night, to avoid similar danger, Leila, who didn't have money to go to Luciana's hostel, slept on the street. But when day broke, she reported what had happened.
The big problem is that Dani Cruel is protected by Danúzia, the daughter of state deputy Moab, and therefore, almost nothing happens to her.
One day, Leila received a visit from Elisa at her home, who said:
"Leila, I admire your courage, but be careful, because Dani Cruel has already killed many people."
"Oh, I'm not afraid! I'm the great-granddaughter of a bandit, my great-grandfather Biu Ipojuca terrorized this region. I'm a down-to-earth, pink woman who sells popsicles, but I'm brave!"
