The day had barely dawned in Lagoa da Italianinha when little Cássia, the eccentric one, was already playing in the river. She left home around 6 a.m. and jumped into the river that runs through the town to play there. Some people mocked her and even filmed her on their cell phones.
Quitéria was in her snack bar when the street cleaner Jessy arrived, saying:
- Mrs. Quitéria, do you know who's bathing in the river?
- Who?
- Your sister Cássia.
- What?! Is she crazy?
Lúcia, Cássia's other sister, heard this, and Quitéria said to her employee Santa:
- Stay here a little while, I have to take care of something.
Quitéria and Lúcia went to the spot and saw Cássia in the river. Quitéria said:
- Get out of there!
Cássia didn't hear. Lucia went down to the river and took Cassia away. Cassia complained:
-Let me play, it was so good...
- Stop it, don't you know the diseases you can catch in this polluted river?
- But...
- Let's go!
Lucia, Cassia, and Quiteria returned home.
