One night, at the home of state representative Moab, Branquinha was visiting her cousin Josiane. Branquinha, the representative's niece, had a strong friendship with Josiane, his eldest daughter. Josiane felt very comfortable with her visit, as she considered Branquinha like a sister.
The two were talking in the pool, and at one point, Branquinha said:
- Josiane, do you still love Valdenes?
- Very much. You have no idea how much?
- But why didn't you stay with him?
Josiane said:
- Because I'm a scaredy-cat, I'm afraid of my father.
- But you can't be afraid. You love him. But does he love you?
- Well, I feel that he does.
- Look, Josiane, today I was at Pátio Verona and I saw him with a barefoot brunette...
- It must be that Aline Débora.
- Who is this Aline Débora?
- She's a country bumpkin who wants to take him from me. But I already have information about her; she's a terrible person. Valdenes has no idea what he's getting himself into, wanting to date her.
- Well, okay. But supposing it turns out that Aline Débora isn't worth a cat's fart and he leaves her, will you stay with him?
- I will!
- Really???? You're too scared, cousin.
- Don't judge me, you have no idea what I go through in this house.
- Okay. I'm only saying all this because I want what's best for you, okay?
- I know, Branquinha. You're like a sister to me.
- The two hugged. Branquinha got out of the pool, said goodbye to Josiane, and went back home.
