One afternoon, Valdenes secretly met with Josiane, the daughter of state representative Moab. At that moment, while they were in the river, they were startled by a scream from a woman who saw them. Valdenes said:
"But who is she?"
Josiane looked and said:
"I don't even know her!"
The woman, who was the Spaniard Jenerina, said:
"I'm sorry, I saw you by accident, my car got close and I was coming here to relax a little."
"What?" said Valdenes.
Josiane got out of the water and said:
"She speaks Spanish, do you speak Portuguese?"
"Yes, I speak a little Portuguese. I'm Spanish, from Seville."
Josiane said:
"Valdenes, she came from Seville, Spain."
"I understand..." said Valdenes, getting out of the water. Josiane said:
"It seems she said her car broke down."
Valdenes and Josiane went to Jenerina's car. The car hadn't broken down, it was just a little out of place. Jenerina managed to get the car working and said:
"Thank you, and know that you two make a beautiful couple."
"What?" said Valdenes.
"She said we make a beautiful couple."
Valdenes said:
"It's a good thing it was that Spanish woman who saw us, and not someone else..."
Jenerina, while driving, said:
"Two crazy guys, they go into the water completely dressed... but they seem like good people..."
