A heavy rain that fell in Lagoa da Italianinha on a Sunday night didn't seem to intimidate the homeless women Rita de Cássia and Fábia. Rita de Cássia, known for her childlike mind and her inseparable doll Dalila and pacifier, and Fábia, known for her youthful appearance despite being close to 50, seemed unconcerned about seeking shelter from the rain.
Fábia said:
"Don't you want to go to a shelter, Rita?"
"No, I don't. I haven't showered today yet. At least I'll enjoy the rain. My Dalila needs a good shower too."
"True," said Fábia, "I like the rain."
The two walked calmly down the wet street, unconcerned, as if the weather wasn't rainy.
When they arrived at Josinete's stall, they even received a hot coffee, given by Josinete "on the house" for the snack stall.
