Spending yet another New Year's Eve alone on the streets, Rita de Cássia only had the company of her doll Dalila, whom she calls her "daughter." Even at 43 years old, she still has the mind of a 5-year-old.
Rita received breakfast early in the morning from Malu, who usually brings her food. Malu said:
"Did you have a good New Year's Eve?"
Rita said:
"Yes, I did, me and my little daughter Dalila."
Malu gave Rita some coffee, which she drank. Malu said:
"Rita, you should get off the streets, it's very bad to live without a roof over your head..."
"No, Malu. I'm sorry, but I prefer to remain free..."
"What kind of freedom is that?"
"Freedom to do what I want and not have to answer to anyone..."
Rita finished her coffee and hugged her doll. Malu said goodbye and went back home.
