The Chic Beggar in the Mud

Warlla, who lives on the streets of Lagoa da Italianinha, is known as the "chic beggar" because she dresses like a wealthy lady.

But she also likes to get covered in mud—something rather odd for a woman who was once very rich.

She doesn't get into the mud by accident; she does it because she truly wants to.

Danuzia’s New Gold Necklace

Danuzia, the daughter of State Representative Moab, loves to show off. While bathing in her luxurious tub, she showed her gold necklace to her aunt Ana Patrícia:

"Look at this—my new gold necklace."

"It’s beautiful! I love it."

"Thanks. I’m not taking the necklace off, not even to bathe or sleep. I’m chic!"

"Of course; you’re very elegant. As always!"

Danuzia spent many hours in the bathtub, while Ana Patrícia left.

The day Suely made a radical change to her look

In 2017, when Suely decided to make a radical change to her appearance and shave her head, she faced a great deal of criticism. In Lagoa da Italianinha, people called the judge "crazy." Some even threatened to report her to the appellate judge.

Her sisters—Myllena, Ilene, Karoline, and even the eccentric Faby Pes Sujos—opposed her new look. Her parents threatened to disinherit her. She was expelled from the church she attended at the time.

Yet, Suely had wanted to be bald since she was a young girl; she had simply been afraid of the negative reactions.

Her daughters, Sara and Dina, were also against it at first but later decided to adopt their mother's look.

People thought it would be temporary. However, Suely has kept the look to this day, shaving her head every two days. Other women in town—such as Mimi, Maria Isabel, and Monalisa—ended up taking inspiration from Suely and decided to go bald as well.

Despite everything she endured at the time, Suely says she has no regrets. She was seeking happiness through authenticity and did not let disapproval bother her.

Samuel and Alice at the waterfall

Samuel took Alice to have some fun at Sol Nascente Waterfall. The two little friends were beaming. Alice was about to get in wearing a swimsuit, but Samuel said:

"Oh, just jump in with everything on. You're going to dry off anyway."

"My mom would get mad if I did that."

Samuel said:

"Sorry for being blunt, but your mom—Ms. Wellia—is weird. She hates it when you go into the water with your clothes on, but she wouldn't say a word if you peed and pooped in your pants like she does."

"That's true... you know what? I'm going to get in with my clothes and everything, just like my Aunt Malu."

The two of them had fun at the waterfall, splashing water at each other.

Later, when Alice got home, she quickly changed her clothes before her mom could scold her.

Life is a seesaw

One day we might be on top; the next, at the bottom. People often mistreat others, forgetting what tomorrow might bring.

In this photo taken at Lagoa da Italianinha, Marcella—a humble, impoverished food vendor—is offering food to Warlla, known as the "fancy homeless woman" (she lives on the streets but dresses like a lady of means).

As it happens, Warlla used to be Marcella’s employer. Warlla frequently humiliated Marcella, who felt so mistreated that she quit her job and even had to fight a legal battle to secure her rights.

Some time later, Warlla lost everything and ended up living on the streets.

Instead of seeking revenge, Marcella—who has a kind heart—regularly hands out food to the homeless, including her former employer.

Warlla, driven by pride, often refuses the offer and even tries to belittle Marcella. Yet, Marcella responds with love.

Valdenes and Josiane in the Rain

On a day of heavy rain in Lagoa da Italianinha, Valdenes and Josiane didn't try to escape the downpour; instead, they stayed out in the rain, sharing a romantic moment.

They are facing a forbidden love. He comes from a poor background—having lived on the streets for years before moving into a modest home—while she is the daughter of State Deputy Moab, a wealthy man from Lagoa da Italianinha who has never accepted the relationship.

Josiane lives in fear and is controlled by her father; she suffers from depression and anxiety. Valdenes, for his part, tries to encourage his beloved, but the challenges they face are immense.

Wellia and Malu

Twin sisters. They share only their faces, yet their attitudes couldn't be more different. Wellia and Maria Luísa—known as Malu—are the daughters of the devout Selma and live in Lagoa da Italianinha.

Wellia has a daughter named Alice; Malu has no children.

Wellia works in advertising; Malu is a veterinarian.

Wellia is mean, wicked, and arrogant. Malu is kind, generous, and humble.

Wellia wears elegant clothes and shoes. Malu dresses like a hippie and always goes barefoot.

Wellia smokes excessively, drinks, and even has unhygienic habits, such as urinating or defecating in her pants. Malu, on the other hand, has no vices or disgusting habits.

The two are constantly at odds. They even fight over the love of the same man—Vinícius, a young doctor. He loves Malu, and she loves him back, but Wellia wants to steal him from her sister. And so, their lives unfold...
